Originally this flower came from Mexico. Amaranthus are also known as Amaranthus Hypochondriacus, Foxtail Amaranth or Prince of Wales Feather. In Africa, amaranth is even used as food. Young leaves are used like spinach, the seed eaten raw or cooked first.
These stems are ideal for autumn and winter bouquets and they offer structure and impact as well as beautiful natural subtle colours, which combine beautifully with other natural dried flowers such as Helichrysum, Love-in-a-Mist or Barley (Hordeum) for example.
Amaranthus requires no specific maintenance and will last a long time. Our Amaranthus has been sown, grown and harvested in Nederland.
