Beautiful bunches of dried flax (linum) in various colors for sale such as black and white, gold, silver, copper, red, green and many more colors. Of course flax is also available in natural color.
Flax is sown in the first half of April. It flowers in June and is harvested in the second half of July. The flax plant is pulled out of the ground with roots to preserve as long a fiber as possible. This used to be done by hand and the flax was put in sheaves. This gave the typical image of the "flax chapels": small bundles of drying flax. Nowadays, pulling is usually done mechanically and the flax is laid flat on the ground, a process called wear in the trade. Flax (Linum usitatissimum) is a plant from the flax family (Linaceae). It is a crop that has been cultivated for centuries. There are blue flowering and white flowering varieties and there are also varieties with brown seeds and varieties of flax with yellow seeds. The seeds of the flax (linseed) are approximately 5 mm long. Fiber flax is used for linen, has been grown for more than six thousand years and oil flax is grown for linseed oil.
How nice it is to have bunches of flax that have been grown for centuries for all kinds of purposes now in your home and then also in the color that best suits your interior.
