What a beautiful day, after waiting a long time the moment has finally come, the new thistle harvest is on its way to Bries aan Zee and can now be ordered in our web shop. After two years of failed harvests, we are very proud to have these beautiful thistles back in our range.

These gorgeous bunches of thistles, or echinops, have an intense deep blue colour, when placed in a window or in some sunlight you can also detect a hint of purple in these dried flowers. Globe thistles, like almost all other thistle species, are quite prickly. It is therefore not surprising that the scientific name Echinops is derived from the Greek word "echinos", which in turn means "hedgehog".

Dried thistles are in a beautiful natural blue colour with light green leaves. It's an iridescent spiked ball. Dried echinops add the finishing touch to your floral arrangement. Echinops is already beautiful on its own, but combine it with other dried flowers of different colours and shapes and it's sure to please everyone who sees it. Grown and harvested naturally on a small flower farm in the Netherlands. All dried flowers are unique and delicate, no bunch resembles the other.

How our stylists describe these dried globe thistles:

eye-catching blue accent with interesting texture, sturdy stems, looks great alone, great to mix with other dried flowers or use in a modern bouquet.

Good to know about globe thistles

The globe thistle is a plant from the daisy family (Compositae or Asteraceae). The scientific name is derived from the Greek "echinos" (hedgehog). Globe thistle lives up to its name, with spiky blue flowers clustered together to form a large globe bloom. Globe thistle is a showy perennial of the daisy family (Asteraceae). The spiky, spherical flowers are perched on the erect, thick stems and attract butterflies, bumblebees and bees. Globe Thistle - Echinops is a long bloomer, growing to a maximum of 120 cm tall and produces a beautiful cut flower or in our case an amazing dried flower.
